Privacy Policy

German version: Datenschutzerklärung

Last updated: August 12 2026

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what personal data we process when you use https://5deen.com and https://5deen.de (the “website”), for what purposes, and what rights you have. Processing is carried out in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / DSGVO) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR is:

Michael Kügeler
Stengelstr. 2
80805 München
Germany
E-mail: michael@5deen.com

We are not legally required to appoint a Data Protection Officer under §38 BDSG. For any data-protection matter, please contact the controller at the address above.

2. Hosting (IONOS)

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany (“IONOS”). When you access the website, IONOS processes personal data on our behalf — in particular the data contained in the server log files described in section 3 — on servers located in the European Union. IONOS acts as our processor within the meaning of Article 28 GDPR on the basis of a data-processing agreement (Auftragsverarbeitungsvertrag). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure, stable and efficient provision of our website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3. Server log files

Each time the website is accessed, the hosting infrastructure automatically collects and temporarily stores information that your browser transmits. This may include:

  • your IP address,
  • date and time of the request,
  • the specific page or file requested,
  • the referring URL,
  • the browser type and version, and
  • the operating system used.

This data is processed to enable delivery of the website, to ensure its stability and security, and to investigate and prevent misuse. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data is stored only for a limited period and then deleted, unless it is required for a longer period to clarify a specific security incident. Please note that an IP address constitutes personal data; we therefore do not claim that access is anonymous.

4. SSL/TLS encryption

For security, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” prefix and the lock symbol in your browser’s address bar.

5. Cookies

This website uses only technically necessary cookies that are required for the basic operation of the site (for example, session and security cookies set by the WordPress software). These cookies do not track you across websites and are not used for analytics or advertising. Storing information that is strictly necessary to provide the service does not require consent under §25(2) TDDDG; the legal basis for the associated processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We do not currently set any non-essential cookies. You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings.

6. Contacting us by e-mail

If you contact us by e-mail, the details you provide (e.g. your name and e-mail address) and the content of your message are processed solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a (pre-)contractual matter, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We delete this data once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

7. Contact form (Airtable)

Our contact page contains a link to a contact form that is hosted by Airtable, a service provided by Formagrid Inc. (Airtable), San Francisco, California, USA (“Airtable”). The form is not embedded in our website; it opens on Airtable’s own platform only if you actively click the link. No data is transmitted to Airtable when our pages load.

If you choose to open and submit the form, the data you enter (for example your name, e-mail address and message) is processed and stored by Airtable and made available to us so that we can receive and respond to your enquiry. In this respect, Airtable acts as our processor within the meaning of Article 28 GDPR.

The legal basis for processing the data you submit is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a (pre-)contractual matter, and otherwise our legitimate interest in offering a means of contact and responding to enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We delete the submitted data once it is no longer required, unless statutory retention periods apply. Airtable processes data on infrastructure in the United States; please see section 10 on transfers to third countries. Further information is available in Airtable’s privacy policy at https://www.airtable.com/company/privacy.

8. Comments

Commenting on this website is currently disabled, so no comment data is collected. Should this change, we will update this policy to describe how comment data (and any related cookies) is processed before enabling the feature.

9. External links

Our website contains plain hyperlinks to external services. A hyperlink does not transmit any of your data to the linked provider when our pages load; data is only processed by the external provider once you actively follow the link. We have no influence over, and accept no responsibility for, the data processing carried out on those external sites, which is governed by their own privacy policies. In particular:

  • GitHub — the “GitHub” link in our menu points to our GitHub organisation at https://github.com/5deen. GitHub is operated by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. If you follow the link, GitHub processes your data (including your IP address) under the GitHub Privacy Statement.
  • Geistgrid — the “Get started” button points to our application at https://5deen.github.io/geistgrid/, which is hosted on GitHub Pages (also operated by GitHub, Inc.). When you open the application, GitHub processes your IP address and request data to deliver the content and to protect the service. The application itself runs locally in your browser; the input you provide to generate graphics is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us.

10. Transfers to third countries

Following the links described in section 8 involves a transfer of personal data to GitHub, Inc. in the United States. GitHub, Inc. is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision under Article 45 GDPR. Transfers to GitHub on this basis are therefore treated as transfers to a country with an adequate level of data protection. You can verify GitHub’s certification on the U.S. Department of Commerce Data Privacy Framework list at https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov.

11. Fonts

This website uses self-hosted fonts that are delivered directly from our own server. No connection to third-party font providers (such as Google Fonts) is established, and no data is transmitted to such providers when you load our pages.

12. Analytics and newsletters

This website does not use any web-analytics or tracking service and does not send newsletters.

13. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • the right of access (Article 15),
  • the right to rectification (Article 16),
  • the right to erasure (Article 17),
  • the right to restriction of processing (Article 18),
  • the right to data portability (Article 20),
  • the right to object to processing (Article 21), and
  • the right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Article 7(3)), where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact the controller named in section 1.

Right to object (Article 21 GDPR)

Where we process your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then stop processing the data concerned unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

13. Right to lodge a complaint

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority. The authority competent for us is:

Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA)
Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany

You may also contact the supervisory authority of your habitual residence or place of work.

14. Data security and updates

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. As the website and legal requirements evolve, we may update this policy; the current version always applies and is dated at the top of this page.
